Jon Ulz, Esq.

DIRECTOR OF LEGAL RESEARCH

Jon Ulz was born and raised in Taylorville, Illinois.  He spent much of his youth in New Castle, Indiana.  He received a Bachelor of Science from Ball State University in 1989, and a Master of Arts in history from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1991.  In 1989, he met Susan Leal, his future wife and best friend.  Susan and Jon have two sons, Max and Wesley.  They both moved to New Orleans, Susan’s hometown, in 1991.  In 1994, he graduated from Loyola New Orleans’ School of Law with a J.D.  While in New Orleans, he practiced law successfully for twenty-three years, first as an associate with a small firm, and then on his own as a sole practitioner.  In 2005, Jon accepted a position at the Louisiana Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit.  He served in several roles at the Fourth Circuit – Central Staff attorney, Central Staff Supervisor for interlocutory writ applications, and then finally as a senior law clerk to several judges.  In 2017, Jon and his family moved to Orange County.

In his free time, Jon enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, listening to music, and record collecting.
